Product Description
Composite structures can be conveniently reinforced in specific areas using carbon fiber tape, e.g., transverse beams on a boat. The edges of the tapes are usually finished, so they do not fray. If the tape description mentions UD (unidirectional), all fibers run in one direction, with only light stitching holding the tape together sideways. Biax indicates that the fibers are arranged in two layers at +/- 45° relative to the tape’s length.
Carbon fibers are suitable for reinforcing both thermoset and thermoplastic plastics. They are primarily used when the product requires strength, stiffness, and light weight.
