Smooth-On Food-Safe Silicones
Below is a list of our food-safe silicones. Food-safe silicone is a flexible and safe material suitable for direct contact with food. It withstands both high and low temperatures, making it ideal for moulding chocolate, confectionery, ice cream and butter, as well as for making baking molds. Equinox® Series
- Once cured, the Equinox® series is suitable for making food-contact silicone moulds for products such as sweets, chocolate, gummy bears, meringues and cheese.
Dragon Skin™ 25 NV and Mold Star™ 40T are suitable for storing dry foods and making ice cube molds. However, they are not intended for repeated use with fatty foods.
These materials have been tested by an independent laboratory and meet the applicable requirements when processed and cured correctly. Detailed processing instructions can be found in the technical bulletin for each material.
Before using the mold, wash it thoroughly with dishwashing liquid and water. Rinse well with clean water and allow it to dry.
Using Baking Moulds (These instructions do not apply to Dragon Skin™ 25 NV or Mold Star™ 40T)
- Place the mold on a baking tray to make it easier to handle and keep it stable.
- Do not use the silicone at temperatures above 204°C.
- Do not place the molds under a grill or broiler.
- Silicone does not conduct heat evenly. Shallow molds bake more quickly than deep molds, while thicker areas retain heat longer than thinner areas. Check the food carefully for doneness, particularly during the first few uses.
- Wash the molds with warm, soapy water after each use. Rinse thoroughly and dry well.
- The mold can be dried quickly in the oven by heating it at 150°C for approximately five minutes.
