Fillers

Fillers for modifying the consistency of epoxy resin (and other resins).

-For making non-sagging (on vertical surfaces): Fumed silica

-For thickening (e.g., bonding): Cellulose fiber

-Putty: microspheres (phenolic: very light, white: very light, gray: heavy)

-For reinforcement (strong bonding): glass fiber powder, cellulose fiber

Microspheres

Phenolic microspheres

Phenolic microspheres are hollow, reddish-brown fillers with a particle density of 0.25 g/cm³ and a bulk density of only 0.10 g/cm³. The average particle size is 50 µm.

Packaging sizes: approx. 5 kg, 2 liters

Gray microspheres

Gray microspheres, separated from fly ash, are aluminum silicate (27–33% Al₂O₃; 55–65% SiO₂). They are inert, gray hollow spheres with a melting point of 1200–1350 °C. Their bulk density is 0.30–0.45 g/cm³ and packing density 60–65%. The shell thickness is on average 1/10 of the sphere's diameter. Their hardness on the Mohs scale is 5.

Packaging sizes: approx. 20 kg, 2 liters

White microspheres

White (C-glass) microspheres are hollow silica dioxide spheres (SiO₂ content 53–73% depending on quality), with an average particle density of 0.20 g/cm³ and bulk density of 0.10–0.15 g/cm³. Particle size ranges from 40 to 80 µm. Melting point is 700–850 °C, and hardness on the Mohs scale is 6–6.5. Kysy ChatGPT:ltä

Other fillers

Milled glass fiber

Milled glass fiber is used to reinforce resin in putties. The white ground glass fiber is type E-glass. The particle length of the powder is 9–14 µm, and the bulk density is 2.53–2.55 g/cm³.

Packaging sizes: 30 kg, 2 liters

Fumed silica

Fumed silica is used for getting resin more thixotropic (more thick). Its composition is (SiO₂ > 99.8%) and its density is 2.2 g/cm³.

Packaging sizes: 10 kg, 2 liters

Cellulose microfibers

Cellulose microfibers are used to reinforce resin and ensure the integrity of adhesive joints. These fibers are ground and bleached, made from wood pulp, and absorb resin. Fiber length is 200–300 µm and bulk density is 0.10 g/cm³.

Packaging sizes: 20 kg, 2 liters
