Product Description
CARBON FIBER BRAID D=50 MM D080/01 12K
The carbon fiber braid is a cylindrical, flexible carbon fiber reinforcement designed specifically for strengthening and repairing round or curved components. The braid structure consists of carbon fiber yarns oriented at approximately ±45 degrees relative to the braid’s longitudinal axis in its relaxed state. This provides excellent conformability to components of various sizes and shapes.
A unique feature of the braid is its adaptability: when stretched, it becomes thinner and the weave opens up; when compressed, it thickens and the fiber angle becomes steeper. This makes it a versatile solution for a wide range of applications. The D-dimension (diameter) specified in the technical data represents the braid size when the fibers are at ±45 degrees. However, the braid can also be used on smaller or larger diameters — users should note that this changes the fiber orientation and may affect mechanical properties.
Carbon fiber braid is commonly used to reinforce or repair cylindrical structures such as tubes, rods, or shafts. Typical applications include carbon fiber bicycle frame repairs, hockey and baseball bat manufacturing, and sailing masts and booms. Its light weight, strength, and flexibility make it an extremely efficient material for demanding composite structures.
