Making a Food-Grade Silicone Mold

Would you like to create your own chocolate molds or other food molds at home or for professional use?

Sorta Clear 40 is a transparent, food-safe silicone that allows you to easily make precise, reusable molds for chocolate, candies, decorations, and more. The material is flexible, durable, and safe for contact with food.

How to Make a Silicone Mold with Sorta Clear 40

1. Prepare the model and mold box

Shape the object you want to copy, for example using clay or modeling wax. Place it in a container or frame that will serve as the mold box. The model should be clean and dry, with enough space around it for the silicone.

2. Mix the silicone thoroughly

Measure the components of Sorta Clear 40 accurately and mix them according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure to mix thoroughly to ensure even curing and to avoid air bubbles.

3. Pour the silicone into the mold

Slowly pour the silicone into the mold box, preferably from one corner, allowing air to escape as you go. Make sure the model is completely covered. If needed, gently tap the container to help release any trapped air bubbles.

4. Let it cure and remove the mold

Allow the silicone to cure undisturbed – usually at least 24 hours. Once it’s fully cured, carefully remove the finished mold. You now have a clear, food-grade silicone mold ready for use!
