Product description
EQUINOX 38 Silicone Putty
Equinox™ is a hand-moldable, platinum-cure silicone compound. Parts A and B are mixed in a 1:1 ratio by volume, and the material becomes ready to use within just a few minutes.
Applicatons
Equinox™ 38 has a pot life of 4 minutes and cures in 30 minutes. Once cured, the silicone is extremely durable, flexible, and heat resistant, making it suitable even for casting low-temperature metal alloys. It offers extremely low shrinkage, ensuring excellent dimensional accuracy. This silicone is also food-safe.
Equinox™ silicone is ideal for making quick impression molds from almost any surface. Typical applications include medal making, orthotic and orthopedic molds, hoof repair for horses, jewelry production, and many more.

Instructions for use
Measure Parts A and B in a 1:1 ratio by volume or weight (for example, two equal-sized portions about the size of a golf ball). Knead the silicone thoroughly until the color is uniform.
Allow the mold to cure at room temperature (23 °C) for the recommended time. Do not cure below 18 °C, as this may slow down or completely inhibit the reaction. If desired (but not required), the mold can be post-cured at 80 °C for 2 hours or 100 °C for 1 hour. Let the mold cool to room temperature before use.
Cure Inhibition: The curing of addition-cure silicones may be inhibited by certain materials, such as latex, tin-cure silicones, sulfur-containing clays, some wood surfaces, fresh polyester castings, and epoxy or polyurethane products. If compatibility is uncertain, perform a small test cast. Cure inhibition may occur if the silicone remains tacky or fails to cure. Coating the model with a clear acrylic sealer can help prevent inhibition. Allow the sealer to fully dry before applying the silicone. Note: Platinum silicone is not compatible with clays that have high sulfur content.
Using and Storing the Mold
A new silicone mold is naturally self-releasing, but repeated use - especially with resins - may wear down the surface. When casting wax or plaster, no release agent is needed. For polyurethane, polyester, or epoxy resins, a release agent is always recommended. The lifespan of the mold depends on how it is used: what materials are cast and how frequently. Abrasive materials like concrete will wear down fine details quickly, whereas soft materials like wax have little to no effect on the mold surface.
Clean the mold with mild soapy water and dry it thoroughly. Assemble multi-part molds before storing. Store the mold on a flat surface in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight.
Safety
Use the product in a well-ventilated area. Safety glasses, long-sleeved clothing, and only vinyl gloves - latex gloves can inhibit the curing of the silicone. Use and store the material at room temperature (approximately 23 °C). Higher temperatures will significantly reduce both working and curing times, as well as the shelf life. Use the product as soon as possible, as it has a limited shelf life.
