Product Information
AMPRO EPOXY 115 H+K 5 kg
Laminating epoxy AMPRO 115 is a water-clear, low-viscosity epoxy resin designed for laminating applications. It is suitable for producing cosmetic carbon fiber parts and surfboards, for example. AMPRO 115 is specifically formulated for laminates that will remain unpainted and require high transparency. It offers excellent UV resistance.
Benefits
- Next-generation SP115 epoxy
 - Excellent clarity
 - UV-protected
 - Ideal for cosmetic carbon fiber parts and surfboard laminating
 - Working time: 45 minutes

Applications
AMPRO 115 is a clear, UV-protected laminating epoxy resin that, thanks to its low viscosity, impact resistance, and strong mechanical properties, is highly suitable for use as a laminating resin in the production of items such as sailboards, surfboards, and cosmetic carbon fiber parts. The resin system can be used with all types of reinforcement fibers and core materials.
The recommended application temperature is 15–25 °C. At lower temperatures, the resin-hardener mixture becomes more viscous and its workability decreases significantly. The maximum allowable air humidity during use is 70%. High humidity and/or damp reinforcement materials can negatively affect the curing reaction and reduce the clarity and transparency of the laminate.
Thanks to its clarity and strong UV protection, AMPRO 115 withstands sunlight well without significant fading or yellowing. If needed, a two-component polyurethane clear coat can be applied to further enhance UV protection and help reduce yellowing. Before applying the coating, the surface of AMPRO™ 115 must be sanded and cleaned, and the instructions provided by the selected coating manufacturer should then be followed carefully.
When using AMPRO 115 for coating, mix 50–75 g of resin and allow it to react and thicken slightly before application. This method increases the thickness of a single resin layer on the surface. Wet laminating is also possible.
Castings with a thickness of less than 5 mm can be done at a temperature of 15–20 °C. The mixed resin must be degassed before pouring.
The resin must not be thinned with solvent.
Handling
The resin and hardener are mixed at a ratio of 100:32 by weight or 100:38 by volume. Mixing must be done thoroughly. It is recommended to mix only the amount that can be laminated within 10 minutes at a working temperature of 21 °C. After that, the laminate remains workable for approximately 45 minutes.
Mixing ratio | By weight | By volume |
Resin | 100 | 100 |
Hardener | 32 | 38 |
AMPRO 115 should be cured at room temperature for 24 h, after which the part can be demolded or post-cured. At room temperature (21 °C) the laminate is fully cured in 14 days. When manufacturing, for example, sailboards or similar products, the part must be allowed to cure at room temperature for at least 7 days before being put into use. Post-curing at elevated temperature (50–80 °C) is recommended after the initial 24 h cure at room temperature. Post-curing improves mechanical properties, impact resistance, and heat resistance. To prevent deformation, the part must remain in the mold or otherwise supported throughout the post-curing process until the laminate has cooled back to room temperature. The post-cure cycle is either 16 h at 50 °C or 5 h at 80 °C. After post-curing, the laminate is fully cured. When determining the post-curing temperature for sandwich structures, the heat resistance of the core material must be taken into account.
Sanding is possible after 24 hours at the earliest. If the lamination has been interrupted for 12–23 hours, the surface of the laminate must be wiped with acetone before continuing. If 24 hours or more have passed since the previous lamination, the surface must be lightly abraded and wiped clean with acetone before continuing.
AMPRO 115 resin system is also suitable for use as a cosmetic top coat. The resin-hardener mixture is brushed directly onto the surface of the laminate. Finishing and polishing can be done no earlier than 48 hours later. Excessive heat buildup during polishing must be avoided. The polishing pad speed should be below 2000 rpm.
Safety
Before working with epoxy, ALWAYS ensure good ventilation and proper skin protection. Wear a long-sleeved shirt and disposable gloves that are resistant to epoxy (e.g. nitrile rubber). Uncured epoxy resin is a strong skin sensitizer. A suitable respirator for epoxy handling should be certified according to EN405. Fully cured epoxy is not hazardous to health.
Tools can be cleaned with acetone, but keep in mind that epoxy is a very strong adhesive and sticks to almost anything—including your tools. Therefore, it’s best to use inexpensive tools that can be discarded after use.
